Delray Beach, FL, is only about an hour away from Miami, and its warm, sunny weather makes it perfect for swimming and spending time outdoors. Both kids and adults can enjoy the many fun water parks in the area. Here are some of the best water parks near Delray Beach to consider.

Coconut Cove Water Park

Coconut Cove is in Boca Raton, about 15 minutes away from Delray Beach. It has lots of attractions, including:

• Two four-story water slides.
• A 986-foot lazy river.
• A lily pad walk.
• A pool.
• Restrooms.
• Shower facilities.

You can rent a locker for $10, and there’s a concession stand with brownies, ice cream, chips, and more. You can also bring your own food and drinks if they’re not in glass containers and they don’t contain alcohol. Coconut Cove has summer camps and also offers swimming lessons for kids over 6 months old.

You can even host your young one’s birthday party at Coconut Cove. All parties include admission for guests, a free T-shirt for the birthday kid, free invitations, and unlimited chips and drinks. Children must be at least 42 inches tall to ride the red and blue slides. Life jackets are available, or you can bring your own.

Calypso Cove Aquatic Center

Calypso Cove is in Margate, about half an hour away from Delray Beach. It has three pools, including a plunge pool with enclosed and open slides. People must be at least 48 inches tall and less than 300 pounds to ride. There’s also a zero-depth pool for kids. It has water-spraying animals, palm trees, and a play structure. If you want a break from playing in the water, you can relax on the deck. It has comfortable lawn chairs for sunning and umbrellas for shade. Lifeguard training and swimming lessons happen in the six-lane lap pool.

This facility has a Caribbean theme, and there’s a concession stand with a variety of snacks and drinks. This water park also has three half-court basketball courts, two pavilions with picnic tables, and an expanded, refurbished fishing dock.

Rapids Water Park

Rapids Water Park is one of the best family water parks in South Florida. It’s in Riviera Beach, about half an hour away from Delray Beach, and it has a variety of fun rides. The Baby Blue is a tubeless ride for single riders. It starts in a dark chute, then enters a large bowl. You’ll go around the edges of the bowl before exiting in the center with a splash landing.

The Big Thunder accelerates a multi-person raft into a huge funnel at about 20 miles per hour. Then, it propels you high up the other side for a zero-gravity experience. The Black Thunder is similar, but it takes you through a tunnel with twists and turns and a funnel in total darkness.

There are several places to eat in Rapids Water Park. The Big Surf Cafe has pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. Refillable souvenir mugs are for sale as well. The High Tide Tiki Bar has cocktails for adults, and funnel cakes with a variety of toppings are available too. You can rent a cabana and get service from a host or hostess while you relax under a ceiling fan and watch TV. The Tobago Trading Post offers souvenirs, sunscreen, swimsuits, sunglasses, and other things you might need for a great day at a water park.

From Oct. 7 to Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Tropical Splash Water Park

Tropical Splash Water Park is in Lauderhill, about half an hour away from Delray Beach. It has two interactive water playgrounds. One has small slides and climbing features for younger kids, and the other has two turning slides, water guns, and a spiral slide for older children. There’s also an oversize bucket that fills with water and then dumps it out on the playground below. This water park also has a fully accessible instructional pool where kids can take lessons.

Funbrellas, umbrellas with 20-foot diameters, are available for rent. They come with trash cans and picnic tables. There’s a concession stand, and admission is free for kids under 1 year old. Life vests are available, and you can bring coolers with your own food or non-alcoholic drinks. People must shower before entering any water attractions, and pets aren’t allowed. People should also avoid running or diving headfirst.
