What are the Differences Between the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4?
Buyers interested in fuel-efficient cars that cost less than similar vehicles find value in Mitsubishi’s Mirage and Mirage G4. They share the same name, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that similarities exist. However, some essential distinctions separate the two vehicles. To help, we asked our new vehicle experts to compare the two cars to help you decide which model best suits your needs and budget.
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage vs. 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: Trim Levels and Pricing
Mitsubishi makes the Mirage in five trim levels, including the exclusive Ralliart model. The Mirage G4 enters the lineup with four models. Here’s a breakdown of the pricing by trim level:
| 2023 Mirage Trim Level | MSRP | 2023 Mirage G4 Trim Level | MSRP |
| 2023 Mirage ES CVT | $16,245 | 2023 Mirage G4 ES CVT | $17,245 |
| 2023 Mirage LE | $16,845 | 2023 Mirage G4 LE | $17,845 |
| 2023 Mirage BE | $17,445 | 2023 Mirage G4 BE | $18,445 |
| 2023 Mirage SE | $18,145 | 2023 Mirage G4 SE | $18,945 |
| 2023 Mirage Ralliart | $18,145 |
Each model follows a similar trim pattern. As you can see, there isn’t a significant difference in pricing between models. So, if you were shopping on price alone, the Mirage would be your vehicle of choice. However, we know price isn’t everything. Let’s look closer to see exactly what makes these cars different.

2023 Mitsubishi Mirage vs. 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: Exterior Style
As we view the exteriors of these cars, we find the most apparent differences. The Mirage comes as a five-door hatchback, while the Mirage G4 takes the shape of a four-door sedan. The Mirage delivers a sporty style with its angular nose and slim grille.
Low-profile LED headlights ride under the sloping hood, with low-slung fog lights beneath. The Mirage’s side body features crisp lines that rise to the rear. A roof-mounted spoiler adds style and performance.
The G4 has almost identical front fascia and side panels. However, the Mirage G4 takes the form and function of a sedan with its classic rear design and trunk lid spoiler. Both vehicles roll on 14- or 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires.
The Mirage G4 will appeal to sedan lovers wanting more efficiency. Drivers searching for a fun vehicle with versatility will gravitate toward the Mirage. And anyone looking to turn heads along the boulevard should look closely at the Mirage Ralliart, featuring trim-exclusive Ralliart graphics and mudflaps.
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage vs. 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: Powertrain
The Mirage and Mirage G4 use the same powertrain, Mitsubishi’s MIVEC 1.2-liter inline three-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams with 12 valves and an ECI-MULTI fuel-delivery system. A continuously variable transmission comes standard. However, you can opt for a five-speed manual for that connected driving feel. This powertrain produces 76 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque.
The Mirage and Mirage G4 have slightly different fuel economy ratings, even with their identical powertrains. For example, the Mirage has an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in the city, 43 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined. The larger Mirage G4 rates 35 mpg around town, 41 mpg on the freeway, and 37 mpg combined.
As you might expect, the more agile Mirage clocks a slightly faster zero to 60 mph time of 11.65 seconds. The Mirage G4 sedan does the same in 12.8 seconds.
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage vs. 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: Interior Comfort and Convenience
Mitsubishi follows a similar equipment pattern in both vehicles’ interior furnishings. Premium cloth with synthetic leather seating surfaces adds beautiful and durable style with comfort. Top trims have leather-wrapped steering wheels with all your cruise, audio, and driver-assist controls mounted for convenient, intuitive operations. And the top models come with a leather-wrapped shift knob.
Differences in size result in a variance in passenger and cargo volume between the two vehicles. For instance, the total passenger volume in the Mirage measures 86.2 cubic feet vs. the Mirage G4 at 89.2 cubic feet. Legroom in the front seat of both vehicles measures an identical 41.7 inches. However, the Mirage G4 rear seat offers 37.3 inches of legroom, almost three inches more than the Mirage back seat.
The cargo capacity in the Mirage trunk reaches 17.1 cubic feet. Folding the rear seat flat gives you 47 cubic feet of space. The Mirage G4 trunk fits up to 12.4 cubic feet. Unfortunately, the Mirage G4 doesn’t have a fold-flat rear seat.
Mirage’s hatchback design adds more trunk space, and the fold-flat rear seat offers more versatility. So, if you lead an adventurous life and often carry gear, the Mirage makes more sense. However, drivers carrying more passengers than cargo will prefer the Mirage G4’s more spacious back seat.
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage vs. 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4: Technology
Mitsubishi installed a 7-inch touch screen in both vehicles to operate the infotainment system. This system comes with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto pre-installed, so you can link your smartphone and enjoy your favorite apps, stream your music, make calls, and more.
Both cars have advanced driver-assist systems designed to elevate your Delray Beach commute and improve safety. Systems include forward collision mitigation (FCM) with a pedestrian detection system that scans the way ahead. When the FCM detects a car or pedestrian in your path, it alerts you. If you react slowly, the system will activate emergency brake support to help mitigate or avoid a possible accident.
You also get a rear-view camera system in both cars. This system offers multiple views and features dynamic gridlines to help you back into and out of tight spaces. Hill-start assist also comes standard. The system keeps the brake pressure on while you move your foot to the accelerator, keeping you from rolling back on steep inclines.
